FAQ -
Q: How do I register myself/my child for classes?:
A: It's as easy as coming to class. Just print off the registration form on our 'Classes' page and bring it with your (student's) tuition to the first class. We also offer the option of mailing it, tuition and registration must be mailed no later than 1 week before class starts to ensure it is received in time. Tuition and registration may be mailed to:
The Thunder on the Plains Project
PO BOX 83344
Lincoln, NE 68501
Q: What is the attire for classes?
A: We encourage comfortable clothing - T-Shirts, capris and shorts or skirts are preferred so the instructor may better view and assist with form and technique. Please do *not* come to class in denim jeans/shorts/capris, or long and/or baggy pants as these articles of clothes do cause issues with the types of movement involved in Irish Dance. Jazz shoes or Dance sneakers are acceptable - we do not require Ghillies unless you are performing. No street shoes in the studio please.
Q: Am I or my student required to perform if we take classes?
A: We do not ever require anyone to perform. We do, however, encourage all students to participate in 'The Next Step's' end of year recital as a safe, fun and friendly outlet to give performing a try.
Q: Are there costumes? Wigs?
A: Costumes are only required for students who wish to perform. Costumes are modest and very budget friendly and can be viewed in our Photo Gallery on our Beginning - Level 2 students. We do not allow wigs or heavy make-up for our beginning and intermediate students - but they are optional for advanced students.
Q: Do you take students to competitions?
A: At this time, our prime focus is on preserving this art form as well as ensuring the students are enjoying it. We do not currently take students to competition but we are looking at options for the future for students who wish to compete.
Q: What ages do you teach? Is my child too young? Am I too old?
A: At this time, we prefer to start no earlier than 6, however, exceptions can be made based on a child's maturity level and interest in the dance. You are never too old to start dancing! We will take anyone who is willing and shares the same love of Irish Music & Dance as we have. If you are concerned about the physical impact of Irish Step Dancing, check out our Ceili Classes! They're just as beautiful, but slightly lower impact.
